Some months have passed since the tragic passing of our dear friend, Jean-Philippe Le Trévou. It is difficult to memorialize the life of such a huge man in a few words. He touched me, and so many in the world, through his wonderful music and warm heart.

I first meet John-Philippe when he was about 14 years old when he was a piano tuner in a Parisian music store. Knowing I was from Allen Organ Company, he wanted to share his interpretation of American style theatre organ music. He led me to a theatre organ and played a complex arrangement by famed American organist, George Wright. I was amazed that this young man mastered this music from memory. I did not know then that this would begin a friendship of over 45 years.

Jean-Philippe was a most positive person. In that spirit, my memories of him focus on the wonderful times we had together in many countries. This included the amazing time we had together installing an organ in the Vatican. While our relationship revolved around our love of the organ and music, we also shared so many lighthearted times together.

While Jean-Philippe Le Trévou is deeply missed, I must admit a bit of happiness as I think of this wonderful man.

Sincerely,

Steven A. Markowitz
